All, I got a brand new laptop complete with integrated wireless connection. I am running XP but my connection keeps dropping and its driving me insame!
The DSL router is a Netgear MR314.
I have tried updating drivers for the laptop but no success.
Any ideas? I have been warned against upgrading to XP service pack 2

I have upgrade to SP2 with no problem but you may have to make a few adustments as to the built in firewall etc. Make sure you turn off 802.1x.......sounds like it may be your problem.
laptop powersaving features are disabling the network card?
By whom? You should definitely upgrade to SP2, it fixes a whole stack of serious security flaws, plus it massively improves the firewall and wireless support.
