The football-on-the-end-of-a-string outlet boxes have never worked for me: too crowded, too much weight in one place, and too many wires to tangle.
There are less expensive alternaties, and although they don't have surge-protection for Ethernet cables or cable TV coaxial cable, they do fine for everything I've ever needed one for.
YMMV.
Here's a basic four-foot strip with surge-protection, and plenty of room for wall warts:
