Six years ago, in 2014, while serving in the state Assembly, I testified "Sandy made clear that our electricity infrastructure, staffing and system of accountability is simply ill-prepared to respond to these increasingly common and powerful storms that result in outages, downed lines, and damage to infrastructure." Six years later, I'm sorry to report that little has changed. Now, as the state Senator representing communities from Yonkers to Bedford, Rye to Tuckahoe, these failures of our electricity infrastructure are compounded by the failures of our other essential providers - telephone and internet service companies.
