A tentative deal appears to have been struck between Verizon and thousands of striking workers nationwide, including several in the north country.
The 44-day strike, which began April 13, affected 39,000 workers nationwide.
The parties are putting the four-year deal in writing, and union members should return to work next week, said Labor Secretary Thomas Perez in a statement. Full terms of the agreement weren't disclosed.
