Third part I/P phones

Anyone out there know if anything else but Nortel's "i" series phones can be used with a signalling server? Specifically, I'm looking for some kind of

802.11 wireless handset to be used to replace a Companion. We're upgrading to S4.5, and once we do, we understand that the Companion will be no longer. Thanks.

First of all, why don't you look at Nortel's 2210 and 2211 WLAN handsets? They are 100% compatible with Nortel systems.

There a couple models of 802.11b/g phones available on the market. Most of them are SIP-only phones, but some are H.323 capable. Here are some of them:

  • Hitachi-Cable Wireless IPC-5000 WiFi SIP Phone
  • UTStarCom F1000 G WIFI VOIP Phone WLAN 802.11B/G
  • ZyXEL Prestige 2000W VoIP WiFi Phone SIP Protocol IEEE 802.11b
  • ZyXEL Prestige P-2000W VoIP WiFi Phone SIP Protocol IEEE 802.11b
  • Linksys WIP300 - NA WIFI SIP V2.0 Phone 802.11b/g Color LCD
  • Linksys WIP330 NA WIFI SIP Phone 802.11g + Windows CE

Also I've seen a lot of "no-brand" WiFi IP Phones (primarily available in bulk orders from Taiwan/China).

Good luck,

Mike
