what are you trying to do? maybe there is another way to do it!

I have a NAM ver 4 and am tring to use the norstar voice mail manager software but am not having any luck connecting through the serial port, It dosen't hav a nic in it so i'm tring serial

I realize that but what are you trying to do? Change class of service or something?

also it looks like you are trying to use some kind of modem to get in. have you turned on the virtual modem in the NAM? what version of voicemail manager do you have and what sw version is your NAM?

Speaking from experience, in 4.0 you only have dial up modem or tcp/ip for Norstar Manager. The serial port is no longer supported.

in that case is there an easy way to add a nic what type of card and drivers are needed

No there isn't one in it, from looking at the documentation i got with it i belive it was upgraded from a version 3... is the a specific nic for them, i was thinking maybe 3com but not sure. thanks

You could try the modem. You have to go into access manager to find ext number and turn it on.

The nic has to be os/2 warp compatible. GOOD FREAKING LUCK with that !!!!!!!!!!!

I just found this, but not sure if it will work. Have to test it in my office

How to connect a laptop or computer to NAM, Startalk CAN / Mini / Flash, SMDR, & RAD faq799-3349 Posted: 18 Mar 03 (Edited 15 May 03)

Connecting Laptop to NAM 3.0 & 4.0

·Connect one end of Null Modem DB9 serial cable to com port on laptop, the other end to port B on NAM. ·On laptop add new modem (start>control panel>modems). Click ADD. Select ?I will choose modem from list? option. Then click HAVE DISK. Browse to find nvm2ppp.inf driver. This can be found on CD-ROM that comes with NAM. Then highlight com port on pc, usually COM1 or COM2. Click NEXT, then FINISH. ·Add dial up connection (start>accessories>dial up networking). Click on MAKE NEW CONNECTION. Type in name, NAM serial connection. On select device tab, select direct serial connection. Click CONFIGURE. On the Connection tab make ?Cancel call if not connected within :? to 0 sec. Click OK, NEXT. Type in 1 in the telephone # field. Click FINISH. Drag icon to desktop. ·Install Norstar Voicemail Manger on laptop. ·Double click on Dial up Connection icon. Username is namaccess. Password is log2nam. ·Start Norstar Voicemail Manager program. Use the f983 password as the password to log in. (1020000 or the like)

Those are the instructions I found also and that is where the log is from after following those steps.

May be something in access manager to set

I found the modem in F915 it is set to virtual I tried to change it to real but it asks for a password, I tried access2 sysmgr, any idea what it is?

Does it have an ethernet connection or modem as well? I don't think you can go in through the serial port with Voice mail manager, What release manager are you trying to use? When you did the 2.0 do you remember how you got into it, I have one now I can connect to but can't remember how to log in.

It has a modem but no nic, is there something special to activate the modem, or is there an easy way to add a nic... the 2.0 used procom or hyperterm i think 9600, 8, n, 1 and i think the password is sysmgr. My voicemail manage is ver 4
