Aotomation @ New Home

Hi Everyone

I am reading posts here for some time. I have seen lots of knowledgeable people here who are helpful. I need some assistance. I am writing with hope that some one will. I have bought a new 5 bedroom villa in Dubai. (220 v / 50 Hz)

It has about 10 rooms. I had pulled cat 5 ( 2 strands) to all rooms from a center point.

I want to install All what is available in automation /security /media (including 4 sat dishes) /other suggested gadgets to make life easier.

Please do chip in.

Thanks

I am intending to install 4-6 sat dishes and give an outlet each in

8-10 rooms. Would like to add audio n streaming into it too. How can I carry sat signals in every room over cat 5 as sat installer insists it can be done only in coaxial wire? Is there any special device required? thanks

There are baluns available which can convert audio & video signals so they can be carried over CAT5 wire. The problem you'll have is controlling the satellite receivers from remote rooms over CAT5. Some receivers use RF hand-held remotes but signal strength from the remote may not be sufficient to control a receiver several rooms away.

If there's any way to retrofit the place with RG6 coaxial cable you'll have more and better options.

Thanks for the response Robert I asked the cable pullers and he is ready to pull rg6 + one more strand of any wire I wish. He is charging me the same labor charges for one strand or two. Shall I ask him to pull 2 strands or one? If two which should be the second one cat5 or rg6. Appreciate the advice.
