Too much firewalls?

Hello all pardon my ignorance, but I am still learning about firewalls :)



My question is, if I were to install an IPCOP server, and use the firefox browser, would I be able to dump NIS 2005, and have the same level of protection and ad blocking?



Currently I am using Windows 2000, but am considering a switch to XP Pro.

No, you would have a better level of protection. You would need to use the addons and fiddle with it tho.

The only downside to killing NIS is it removes the antivirus component which would have to be replaced. E.
