Proxy Appliance

I am looking for an inexpensive PROXY appliance. We have an embedded controller that works well with proxy's. I have used AnalogX, and it works with a simple PC and 2 NIC's. I would like something like a NAT router, but set up for Proxy. Does such a machine exist? The cheapest hardware proxy I found was low $600.00, and works for hundreds of users. I need only one user. Can a NAT router (Dlink, Linksys, Netgear) equipment be "tricked" into working as a PROXY?

HTTP (Port 80)(PORT 6886)CONTROLLER

Thanks in advance. I considered a Linux solution, but want a cheap solution.
