I read an another article on that, it's not Google's fault unless you want to blame them *and* Mozilla for enabling the feature by default for W3C compliance.

In today's environment assume your IP is known unless you have done all the research (like the above example). Security and anonymity require constant discoveries and work arounds. Some popular VPN's leak IP's we just found out about too (and there are workarounds).
