I now have the above router/modem which has the firewall enabled to medium security. So this means I no longer need to bother with ZoneAlarm or any such item. Correct?
But I do still need to install Spybot Ad-aware and AVG virus protectin. Correct?

Correct both times :) As long as you're running a client system, not a server, you shouldn't have too many worries. Keep both antispyware and antivirus up to date. If you're running Windows XP, turn on AutoUpdate.
