Blackice Causing Reboots

Jul 29, 2004 2 Replies

I thought I would post this. We've had two calls for this problem this week. We determined that Blackice Server with the lastest software updates was causing these servers to Save Dump and reboot every 20 minutes or so. Some would freeze up instead of reboot as well. After the program was uninstalled the machines quit rebooting. Also, make sure the service is removed, you can also just stop the service to verify the problem.

Advice given AS IS!

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000000a (0x09c76674, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x804ef19f). A dump was saved in: C:\\WINDOWS\\Minidump\\Mini072904-28.dmp.

I am expericing the same problem with Blackice PC version .cnk. It am getting a crash dump with mrxsmb.sys and/or with the ntkernel.exe on Windows 2000.

STOP 0x000000d1 (0x0017000,0x000000ff,0x00000001,0xbfc50a20) DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Address BFC50a20 base at BFC4B000, DateStamp 3ecd5361 - mrxsmb.sys

I am working with ISS right now to resolve it. No fix yet.

I would recommend that you and your users report the problem to ISS as well.
