can not access my web server by my WAN IP by router RP614

I have a Netgear RP614 router. It has an internal IP address of

192.168.0.1 I have three computers in my house, each has a 192.168.1.x address. (And they are on the same subnet as my router.)

On one of my machines I have a Web Server (set as 192.168.0.22) running (Using IIS in window 2000 ), and the web server set as ports forward to 192.168.0.22 by router.

If I go to http://192.168.0.22 from the web server computer, I can see my web Server. If I go to http://192.168.0.22 from the two computers behind my router, I can see my web Server.

However, if I go to http:// WAN IP on the router from any computer behind my router, I can not access the web server. ( I did not check from outside my router in the Internet to access my WAN IP, but I think it may not work)

When I remove my router and just use the web server to connect modem to Internet, every thing is ok. I can see my web server by WAP IP.

I don't know where is the problem. It may be some where wrong in setting the router or setting my web server.

Any one can help me?

These are two separate problems:

1) Connecting to your WAN address from inside the LAN doesn't always work the way you expect, many routers will not know how to point outbound traffic back inside, and your broadband provider probably won't route traffic that came from you back to you. 2) Many broadband ISPs block ports so that you can't run WWWebservers. Unless you change the port, no-one will ever be able to get to your WWWebserver from the Interweb.

Usually you can not browse your own WAN IP address from inside the firewall because your firewall (and possibly your ISP) does not allow this to happen. The router/firewall will stop any traffic from inside your network reaching the WAN IP address. If you have a friend who can help, ask them to quickly type in your IP address in their web browser.

You are right. The computer behind my router can not access my web server but computers outside my router.

Thank you !!

Computers outside your router _WHAT_?

I mean that computers outside my router can access my web server by typing the WAN IP of the router, but the computers behind my routers cannot access my web server by typing the WAN IP of the router. I have asked my friends to try to access my web server by typing my WAN IP. yes, they can access.

Maybe this is the design of routers.
