I'm curious about exactly what softwares use timestamp ICMP messages.

Timestamp ICMP messages seem to have originally be intended to allow stations running IP to synchronize their clocks but later developments like Network Time Protocol (NTP) seem to have made the ICMP timestamp message irrelevant and so this does not get used much (if at all) anymore for this purpose.

However, it seems to be helpful in some less than desirable conditions for mapping networks. Look at
