I have recently setup a PIX with PPTP access. So far, the user can connect to shares via IP address however nothing is showing up - no password prompt either. Is it possible to setup the PIX to authenticate against the NT 4.0 domain controller?

Any other way to allow the VPN users to use name based shares / lookups?
create LMHOSTS file on each PC ?
Thought of that too but they're remote PCs off the LAN.
Do you have a WINS server ?
PIX will not pass NETBIOS name broadcasts across a VPN tunnel. (Linksys VPN routers do support this feature)
I could setup WINS ... then do I just specify the WINS server in the VPN config?
