I can ping remote ips behind nat accross from a crypto map only if i specify the internal nat interface as source. Can i create an access-list or add a static route to do this without specifying the source interface? thanks.

Which device line and software version?
it is a 1700 running 11.x
Not in IOS; you must use extended ping.
