I have been reading around the net and have seen that the 2501 router is the one to get for learning for the CCNA. I currently have a 2503. Is that enough of a router alone to learn everything I need for the CCNA?
What others are necessary or recommended?

Yes, that has one Ethernet (will need an AUI transceiver) so you will be all set. If you want to practice routing, you should pick up one or two more routers and some back-to-back (DTE to DCE) serial cables.
