IPVB Subnet Mask

Jan 25, 2006 1 Replies

Hi,

Could anyone tell me when converting an IPV4 address into the IPV6 format how is the subnet mask carried over..??? i.e: 10.172.24.0 /24

--> 2002:aac:1000:: but what would the subnet mask be..??

It depends on what mapping schema is to be used:

a) using /64 xxxx:10:172:24::/64 b) using the higest 32 bits /96 0:0:0:0:10:172:24:0/96
