Firewalling: PPTP VPN passthru on PIX to Windows 2003

Jan 19, 2007 5 Replies

Hi, im looking to have my pix pass thru VPN requests to my win2k3 box.

I read in the cisco docs it only supports one connection at a time to be passed through, by that do they mean one client or one vpn only?

Thanks,

Chris

"inspect pptp" helps.

yeah thanks i did that from the documents, will that allow more than one external vpn client to connect to my server at the same time?

Cheers,

Chris

Yes and it allows more than one internal client to connect to outside (using PAT).

Thanks for the prompt reply, that wasnt so clear on cisco docs! So adding, inspect pptp, forward port 1723 (i think from memory?) to my pptp server, allow GRE protocol 47 through to that ip address and ill be good to go? :3)

Hey out of interest and seeing as you know your stuff well do you know if it is possible for a PIX firewall to dial into a win2k3 box as a client so i can bridge two subnets for routing purposes?

Cheers again,

Chris

GRE is dependant, so you do not need to allow it at all.

I never tried it, but I assume it is possible starting with 7.2.
