Error creating SSL Cert.

Oct 05, 2006 0 Replies

Hello Everyone,

First of all, thanks for reading this post. I am having challenges renewing a SSL cert on Cisco's SCA 11000 series appliances. The procedure I am following can be found here:

formatting link
It's important to mention that this renewal is for a wildcard cert, for example, *.google.com.

When I attempt to input the "domain" field, I can't just type

*.google.com, I have to type ".google.com" or "google.com".

This is causing the CSR to fail when submitted to the CA. The message I get is:

- The common name should start with"*.".

If I generate the CSR w/ an asterisk, I receive this:

Must not use the following characters: /\\()~!@#$%^*?&

What am I missing here? I know it has to be simple.

Thanks again,

-t
