delegating vlan management

I'm looking to improve how we manage switches in our test lab.

Currently out test environment consists of many standalone switches and the test engr's simply move the network cables to the appropriate switch to isolate traffic. The lab area is to be expanded to 500+ servers and test stations and the manual method no longer makes sense.

I'm looking for software which gives the user the ability to easily see which machines belong to a vlan and make changes ( these are programmers not network guys ).

Thanks Sal

it provides more than you need but for your purpose it's a good intorduction. We're looking at it to have printers identified across our network and have the "printer vlan" assigned to the port automatically.

You don't mention what model switches you have but this configuration guide for 6500 series will answer some questions.
