cut-throgh packet switching

Hi,

Can somebody tellme if there are CISCO (or other manufacturers) selling switches using cut-throgh packet switching?

Thanks in advance.

There *may* be a few manufacturers using cut-through still. However, it's mostly regarded as uninteresting/irrelevant these days. Also it cannot be used if you have a speed difference between input and output ports.

And you have to have all of the buffering anyhow, as there is the possibility that the output port is busy when the input port is trying to send to it. For example, it is statistically unlikely that *all* output ports would just happen to be available for

*every* broadcast (e.g., ARP)

VLAN tagging / untagging can also interfere.
