Content Engine 590

Hello!

I am trying to configure a Content Engine 590 that was recently given to me. I do not know the reason why this device was retired before being given to me. So, I may be chasing a ghost. But, until I can confirm a hardware failure of some sort, I am sure it can be made to work.

Here is the console output when I boot it up. I have tried *** for recovery and without. I get the same results either way. At the bottom, it starts complaining of disk errors. Just before it shows the disk erors, it prompts for a username, but will not accept input. I would appreciate help on this matter as I need to get this working quickly.

Hi Brad,

Thanks for your response. What I meant by not accepting any input is that when I enter admin as the username and , nothing happens. It never even prompts for the password. In fact, if I am not quick enough to enter admin, the disk errors will start and then I really cannot do anything. However, even if I enter admin before the disk errors, nothing happens.

The Cisco 590 Field Notice states,

"Your CDN device may have been configured to boot from flash instead of from disk.

The CDN software must be booted from disk.

Some CE-590-CDNs were shipped from manufacturing with the flag set to boot from flash instead of from disk.

The CDN software needs to be loaded from disk.

Manufacturing has since rectified this problem, however some units in the field may be configured to boot from flash."
