Cisco Pix 515e 6.3.5 memory utilization

May 01, 2006 3 Replies

I just recently updated the ios in our pix. I also at the same time updated the Memory so in the near future we could make the move to 7.1.

I have noticed in the last couple of days the memory utilization is consistantly 60M. The Pix has 128M in it with 16M of flash. I am curious if this is normal? I do not notice any suspicious traffic in the log of the pix.

Thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks,

I just purchased a 515e IOS 7.0(4)with 64 megs of RAM and it has the following usage: Free memory: 32816496 bytes (49%) Used memory: 34292368 bytes (51%)

------------- ---------------- Total memory: 67108864 bytes (100%) This has Several Point to point VPN connections, Several Client Remote VPN Connections, and several access lists.

My old 515 IOS 7.1(2) that I just put in another 32 megs of RAM in is sitting on the shelf with nothing really attached and it's at: Free memory: 29742680 bytes (44%) Used memory: 37366184 bytes (56%)

------------- ---------------- Total memory: 67108864 bytes (100%) This was just wiped and has no real configuration to speak of.

Maybe its like MS SQL Server and Consumes 1/2 the available memory? (-;

ScottI just recently updated the ios in our pix. I also at the same time

7.x has a minimum requirement of 128M of ram.... That is why i put the 128 in it. however not it seems to be comsuming alot more than it used to.

Hmmm, Thought it had a 64 meg minimum?

Both of my PIX515 & PIX 515e have 64megs and are running 7.1
