Cisco Memory Monitoring Largest(b) the most important? open original image

Hi folks,

in the cisco document below

formatting link
it states that the "Largest(b)" field is the most important. Now if was to monitor the memory usage why wouldn't I just concentrate on "free(b)", what makes "Largest(b)" the most important?

thanks Dave

Because if memory becomes fragmented you may have lots of free memory but no single block large enough for whatever the router needs to do next.
