In a ip multicast configuration, using RP, is it possible to enable cgmp on a switch if it does not support igmp. If so, what are the implecations of having the two commands on the same vlan.

None, IGMP and CGMP are methods that Layer 2 switches use to determine which ports need multicast traffic forwarded to. Switches that support IGMP, listen for IGMP join messages on each port. CGMP is a protocol in where a multicast router sends CGMP messages to layer 2 switches to notify them of MAC addresses that have sent IGMP join messages for a particular multicast. CGMP switches are older switches that do not have the horsepower or hardware to listen for IGMP messages.
