Catalyst 4000 IOS recommendations?

I currently run one of the 12.1 flavors of IOS on my Supervisor IV boards in my 4006 and 4506 switches. They have been running fine for years. But recent IOS vulnerabilities are making me re-evaluate my IOS images on my switches. I have already updated all my routers.

I was told at one point, though many years ago, that the 12.2 images for the Catalyst 4000's weren't as stable as the 12.1 images. I don't know if this is true, though I can certainly attest to the reliability of the 12.1 line.

Has this recommendation changed? Is there any reason to remain on
