Adding a redundant SUP720-3BXL Supervisor to 7606

We have a 7606 router with one SUP720-3BXL supervisor installed. Now we got another SUP720-3BXL supervisor for redundancy. What is the correct procedure for adding the redundant supervisor? The configuration allready has the following lines:

redundancy mode sso main-cpu auto-sync running-config auto-sync standard

From what I read we should make sure that the IOS is the same on both supervisors before inserting the new one and that the new one will automaticaly get the config from the old one.

The one currently installed boots from s72033-pk9sv-mz.122-18.SXD5.bin and the new one comes with S733ISK9-12218SXF.

Are we supposed to first upgrade the old one with S733ISK9-12218SXF and then hot-plug the new Supervisor? What else should we ensure prior to inserting the new supervisor?

Thank you for taking the time to respond.
