Hi, I'm trying to connect router 2801 over POTS. I have connected USR modem to AUX port on one line and trying to login from my laptop on the other phone line. When I call the number from hyper terminal modem connected to aux port answers and start making sounds, but the line connected to laptop is still producing ringing sound!! Any sugestions? Thanks.

did you hard set the modem to 9600b? Did you configure the aux port?

And, that is the document that I read and all seems fine. Maybe the problem is integrated modem on the other side?

OK. I've successfully connected to router. The problem was here:
I put modem autoconfigure type usr_sportster instead of modem autoconfigure discovery .
Even that with discovery router also found my modem. OK, now I don't get any prompt on my HyperTerminal window. (??)

OK. I managed the connection and everything worked fine (only the speed was
28k). But now I'm expiriencing another problem. Why my modem change its settings? Yesterday worked fine, I even saved settings with at&w0 and at&w1. Today when I tried to connect from my home same problem as yesterday. I heard ringing sound and connection was established. When I check modem's settings from router I noticed that it is set to PULSE instead of TONE. How come that settings is changed by itself?
