System configuration has been modified. Save? [yes/no]: n

!--- Do not save the configuration at this prompt. Otherwise, the switch !--- reloads with the current running configuration and does not reset to default.

Proceed with reload? [confirm]y

2w0d: %SYS-5-RELOAD: Reload requested

Although if you get a CCNA question about this Cisco recommends that you don't do this but reconfigure the device.

You cant reconfigure some settings... read your ccna book again

Write erase gets rid of config but also ensure the vlan.dat file held on flash is also deleted as otherwise vlans will still show

sh vlan - to see if vlans exist Dir flash - to view flash storage delete flash:vlan.dat - to delete vlan.dat sh vlan - verfiy all vlans gone
