Is the 3548XL better than a 2950 and less interesting than a 3550? (for a lab environnment=> BCMSN )

I would rate them in this order:
3550 (L3) -----> 2950(L2) -------> 3500/2900-XL series (L2)The 3500-XL has been EOS/EOL for a while now while the 2950 is still current but some models are EOS/EOL:
