VOIP session

If you create a VOIP session using SIP, will it continue to use more bandwidth than H323?

How much more will it use with g.711 ulaw?

- data(RTP) and signaling (SIP or H.323) are different things, the data stream will generate most of the traffic no matter if you use h323 or sip

- traffic generated depends mostly on codec and length of speech samples on the IP Layer with g.711 and 20ms of speech you get about 80 KBit/s (160Byte date + 40 Byte Headers @ 50 packets/s)

You are confusing signaling and media. H.323, SIP, MGCP, SCCP, etc. are all signaling protocols, and all of them use negligible bandwidth. The real cost is in the RTP media stream, and the particular signaling protocol you choose has no effect on the media.
