AD3 real servers see virtual IP

All,

We have an issue where Real Servers are able to access their virtual IP.

If and once this happens, we get dropped packets all over the network.

Right now, we've put a workaround where we just point vip to localhost

e.g. cat /etc/hosts

127.0.0.1 our.virtual.ip.com

Any idea on how to rectify this problem on the Alteon side?

We would still like to allow to see VIP from other Alteon ports, but not VIP where this particular server belongs to.

Thanks.

Hi, maybe filters are the answer. Just make the filter dening traffic to VIP and put it on the correct server ports.

If you don't want your real servers accessing the VIP that they belong to then disable client processing on the ports where the real servers are connected. They will also lose access to OTHER VIPS, if configured.

Of course if you also have other clients accessing the VIP from those same ports then they will also lose access to the VIP. This would not be desirable.

What's the topology look like?
