Job Description
We are looking for a Data Network Engineer with Telephony experience
to work
on a project with the City Information Technology Agency (ITA).
The Engineer will be assigned to the Public Safety Systems Project
(PSSP).
The PSSP project team is responsible for the design, procurement and
implementation of the technology infrastructure to support the new
EOC/ PD
DOC/ FD DOC/Fire Dispatch Center currently under construction.
Public safety experience is preferred.
The Engineer should have a minimum of 7 years experience in
communications
and computing system design. System-level knowledge of the design and
implementation of local area networks, wide area networks (LAN/WAN)
and
telephony networks is preferred.
Design, installation and operational experience with systems include,
but
are not limited to:
=B7 Local and Wide Area Networks (LAN/WAN) =B7 Voice and Data
Networks
=B7 Nortel or Cisco VoIP telephone systems/networks =B7 Inside
plant
fiber cable and Cat 6, Cat 6a cable systems
Working in a team environment, the engineer's project responsibilities
include, but are not limited to:
=B7 Performing detailed technical analysis of current systems'
functionality, operation and configuration =B7 Conducting surveys
and
interviews of personnel from City Departments =B7 Selecting/
designing new
systems that meet operational and functional requirements =B7
Performing
cost and technology analysis =B7 Providing procurement,
installation, and
system integration assistance
The Engineer should have a BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer
Science.
* A Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), is a must.
Work assignments will be under the direction of the PSSP's Engineering
Manager.
