Interaction between DSL modem and ISP

Feb 08, 2007 0 Replies

Hi,

I am doing my master degree in telecommunication. One of my projects need to design a ISP service to provide DSL (ADSL/XDSL) service to home users. The ISP won't have B-RAS and DSLAMS devices.

In this case, can anyone explain to me how does this ISP provide service to home user thru user's DSL modem? There should be a *special* device or router at ISP site to authenticate home user's traffic (eg. login), what kind of devices this ISP need to be in-placed?

Any pointers/links/references are highly appreciated.

Thanks S
