ADSL Modem Hardcoded to limit speed?

Oct 19, 2006 2 Replies

When I look thru the settings on my Speedstream 4100 modem is states max Rx @ 768K. Is this a configurable item and maybe I am missing something but something hardcoded at a given rate should not be able to connect at a faster speed. I check speed and it consistantly records lower than the given figure. Is this one of the little known ADSL secrets to limit bandwidth by the end users?

This is something the system tells the modem when the modem connects. It is based on your configurationn in the Rback router.

They claim there is no limit on the account from provisioning but only see 600K-700K :-( come on fiber...modem is set in bridge mode now with a router on my LAN.
