Wireless signal strength software

can anyone suggest a simple program for checking my wireless signal strength for testing prototype arials? (DB Gain etc) .I know netstumbler is an option, but looking for something specific to compare signals to see what mods improve transmission, so needs to be accurate/sensitive.
