Well apart from local pc security such as a firewall I think other security options are setup on the access point, the fact you can connect without selecting any, suggests there is no network security. So there should be no other configuration required, unless other people have suggestions for how to make your pc a little more secure on an insecure network.(Or even if its worth the bother)
