What is the current chipset of readily available Netgear WNR1000 routers?

It looks like the Netgear WNR1000 that is currently being sold is v3. But I bought a WNR2000 recently ( as an AP ) and it's at v5, and there's no third-party firmware for it.

I'd like to find out a cheap "router" that can be flipped as a client bridge. I'd like this to be readily available at standard retail outlets.

Any recommendations? I've spent hours on DD-WRT and OpenWRT websites trolling the "Supported" lists; thought I'd ask here.
