Just to let you know. The airport extremem is now installed and my friend's Inspiron 1545 is receiving the internet signal perfectly. She has all 5 bars. Of course I have solved only half the problem. The reception in rv campgrounds is still a problem. She is trying the suggestions about restarting after installing the driver for the Linksys adapter.
