How to set the clock on my 3com router...?

Aug 20, 2005 2 Replies

Hi all!

I have a 3COM OC Wireless 11g Cable/DSL router here (3CRWE554G72T/3CRWE554G72TU) with firmware V2.01.05. This unit is working fine, except for the nuisance that the clock starts at jan 1st, 1970 on boot. There doesn't seem to be a place in the setup where I can set the clock at all...

Since the unit refers to this time as 'Internet time', does that mean it uses NTP to obtain the correct setting? If so, will it help to let the router access port 123 on the Internet?

Regards, Evert

Read the User Guide (pg 81):

"The Router reads the correct time from NTP servers on the Internet and sets its system clock accordingly."

So yes, the router needs to access port 123.

If you don't have a User Guide it's available here:

Will it only check via the 'Cable / DSL Port'? In my setup the WAN-link is actually hooked up via 1 of the LAN ports...
