This is a cross post because my original seemed to be a newsgroup that hasnothing by spam and bizarre, infantile, scatological post responses on it:I have been having this problem since I got the machine, and the COMPAQ HPoutsourced tech workers from India could never identify the problem. Afriend recently helped me find and run system error events and now that mysystem is out of warranty, the tech "help" in India wants me to buy a newwarranty so they can " help" me identify and fix the problem I had whenthe system was under warranty! Yeah, right. However, they did say theproblem was software and not hardware, and I did buy an extended 3 yearwarranty from Staples for the hardware. Is this an X1030AP or X1030US?If I were a suspicious person (which I am), I would ask why it takes"a few hours" for a software problem to appear. This reeks ofhardware and overheating. I don't think it's software.OID_Blah are calls to the NDIS driver. This is the interface betweenthe operating system and the wireless card. The call was successful,but the card did not respond. Therefore, the most likely culprit isthe wireless card.My guess(tm) is that you're overheating something. It might be thewireless card, but I can't tell from here. The first thing to do isget some canned air and blow out the fan intake and exhaust area fromthe usual accumulation of dirt and dust. Remove the wireless card. Hi Jeff,The original problem was wireless disconnecting and not being able to hold asignal, so I switched to the Intel Proset drivers for the LAN 2100 3B MiniPCI, which is the card installed. And I had replaced THOSE drivers severaltimes and updated them. So, I switched back to the WIN driver reinstalledtoday. I thought you've replaced the driver several times? Intel has some unresolved problems with their 2200BG Proset drivers. The wireless connection slows down after a while. No complaints about hanging the computer. See: |

a long discussion on the problem. I don't know whether it related to your specific hanging problem. To the best of my knowledge, the issue is unresolved.

At this point, I suspect the issue can't be resolved. You might want to look into a different MiniPCI card from a different manufactory (Atheros or Broadcom based chipset).

I talked with HP live chat and they recommended reinstalling original Windows drivers from the install disk. I deleted the Intel Proset driver and reinstalled the WIN driver for the wireless card. Yesterday I had a lost signal but I did not get the system wide computer freeze as was common. Will run for a while on the Win driver and see if the freeze problem stays gone. Jeff
