I am in the process of switching from Verizon land lines to Vonage. Beware when transfering your phone number that it could take some time. I live on the east coast and signed up for the service on June 25th
2005. I got an email that my phone number would be transfered on July 6th. Incoming calls to my home phone got a message that my number was no longer in service at 10:00 am on July 6th. It is now 10:00 pm on July 7th and incoming calls still get the message that my number is no longer in service. I called customer support 2 times on day 1. Expect 10 - 15 minute waits for support. They told me they could no do anything in the first 24 hours. I called once on day 2 and waited 10 minutes for support. Support wrote up a ticket and said I should be fixed by the morning. I am not holding my breath. Customer support has been shoddy. You can tell this is a new company because they make promises they can't keep. Don't count on Vonage to make sure your phone number is transferred correctly. On a positive note, I know others that use Vonage and they did not have these problems. Vonage did give me a temporary number so I have been able to make outbound calls. The service is clear and I look forward to cheaper bills. I'm crossing my fingers that when I wake up in the morning my family and friends will no longer think I fell off the planet.- posted
