Cisco ATA 186 and Faxing

Have people got the Cisco 186 to work properly when sending faxes? My current Grandstream 486 gives poor transmission speed and keeps disconnecting. The relevant current codec is G.711. There is to be a codec T.38 for fax but the 186 does not yet support it, although its competitor does; can we expect Cisco to support T.38 in firmware at a later point?

Is the ATA 186 reasonably current or is it going to be superseded soon, having been on the market two years? Is there a Web board particularly including Cisco VOIP questions?

Hi I dont use mine for outgoing fax but do for incoming. It seems to work OK I have recived 14400 faxes OK. I use Hylafax which I did have to adjust to be very tollaent of errors etc.

i use VOIPTALK for faxes and it's not good for that, although it may be a problem with my Grandstream unit in particular.

Can you tell me which supplier u have for PSTN fax send/receive? I would be interested.
