hide callerid

Hi

In the UK BT is the biggest network provider and they do provide a range of CallerID related services.

For example you can prefix 141 to a dial string to hide the CLI.

Is this service common with other operators in other countries? In a country are the codes used common? Eg in US what is the code? Is it common across the country? Is 141 used countries other than UK?

[I am not sure but maybe 141 only works on analog lines?]

Yes, it's common, but the codes vary between countries. OFCOM specifies 141 and 1470 to block and release CLID in the UK. In North America, NANPA calls them Vertical Service Codes, and uses *67 and

*82. In other countries they use other codes.
