BOSTON - Verizon Wireless experienced an outage affecting cellular and internet service in cities across the country around noon Monday, according to a website that tracks service outages.

The website DownDetector showed reports of outages in Boston, New York, Washington, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Denver and other cities across the United States. Reports of problems spiked around noon on that website and remained above average for several hours.
