Update: AT&T says service has been restored [telecom]

According to an AT&T spokesperson, the service outage that has been affecting customers on the Outer Banks over the last several days is now over. In response to a Voice inquiry this morning, AT&T public relations manager Ann Elsas emailed that "Service has been restored."

It's been an off-the-grid holiday weekend for some Outer Banks AT&T customers who are without phone service due to damage to the local service provider's fiber line.
