I don't know how eBay can stop automated responses to email when they don't accept email. There are no email addresses anywhere on their site. Like many web site operators, they seem to confuse a web form with real email. But by insisting on contact only through their forms, they destroy a user's audit trail and make it considerably more difficult for a user to track an issue.
