Planning Board considers disguising new cell tower as a tree [telecom]

By Matthew Flokos

In an attempt to reduce the visual impact of the new cell tower planned for 12 Woodchuck Hill Road, the Planning Board has considered requiring Verizon to build it as an artificial tree. Board members expressed mixed opinions about the idea at the Planning Board's Feb. 1 meeting, but Verizon attorney Chris Swiniarski strongly opposed it. The Planning Board did not reach a final decision at this meeting but will continue the discussion, along with the rest of the site plan review, at its Feb. 22 meeting.
