Montgomery County, Pennsylvania (outside Philadelphia) has joined the small but growing list of communities offering 911 service by text message, as reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Officials said the system is intended for people with speech or hearing difficulties, because calling is faster and more accurate.
